Brighouse Boundary Walk: from Cooper Bridge to Brighouse

This is the route that I took on Tuesday August 17th 2021 when walking the Brighouse Boundary Walk from Cooper Bridge to Brighouse. It is 8.1K long.

	I return to Cooper Bridge for the start of today's walk. It's a bridge over the River Calder which is shown in this photo. Also shown on the right is the start of the Huddersfield Broad Canal. 	Cooper Bridge is also a bridge over another stretch of the Calder and Hebble Navigation. In the distance is a flood gate before the C&HN joins the River Calder. 	It's all tarmac to begin with. First it's along the A62. 	The BBW then goes left along this footpath. It's also the route of the Kirklees Way. However, there's no sign for a footpath, for the BBW or for the KL. It's to the right of the car park for the Miller and Carter Steakhouse. 	There's a sign for the BBW and one for the Luddite Trail but I don't know what that is. 	Today's route for the BBW is mostly the same as that of the Kirklees Way which I've done before. However, at this point the KL takes the track to the right whereas the BBW crosses the stile and takes the track across the field. 	And then onto Hartshead Lane. From here the BBW and the KL are together again. These days this road is used for the Liversedge Half Marathon whereas when I ran it in 2002 it used a different route. The "Road Closed" sign in the distance is worrying. 	The tarmac continues. The closed road was a side road and so it doesn't affect my route. 	St Peters Parish Church, Hartshead with Hightown. 	I venture a few yards off the route of the BBW to see Windy Bank Lane which is also part of the route of the Liversedge Half Marathon both when it was last took place and also when I did it in 2002. 	This footpath is part of the KL (top left), the BBW (bottom right) and a few others some of which are faded. It reminds me of scouts earning merit badges. 	Cows! The first thing I look for is whether my route needs me to negotiate! Luckily there's a fence between the path and the field of cows. 	At this point, the BBW and the KL go different ways.
