from Denby Dale to Shepley

This is the route that I took on Tuesday October 1st 2019 when walking from Denby Dale to Shepley. It is 5.1K long.

KML for the above route as a line
KML for the above route as a series of points

I don't why but all the distances (in Ks) on this page are wrong. Above it says I walked 5.1K whereas it's advertised as a 4M walk and I probably walked about 7.5K.

Here are some photos I took. If you want to see a photo in hi-res, click on it.

Today I'm starting at Denby Dale railway station. I'm going to walk from this station to the one at Shepley (which is two stops closer to Huddersfield). I'm making use of this PDF. Like yesterday's PDF it has a map of the walk.
This photo has a view of the approach to Denby Dale railway station - it is taken from a bridge over the railway. As you can see it's single track - there's one train per hour in each direction.

There is a special waymark sign for this walk - I wasn't expecting this.
Following this photo, there's a big gap before I take the next photo - 27 minutes. It's partly because it's raining very hard and partly because I was having difficulty in navigating. I was using the map in the PDF displayed on my mobile together with an app on my mobile which displays a pushpin on an OS 1:25000 map showing where I am. However, my mobile wasn't working too well because it was getting wet. Because I'm finding it hard to use the mobile, I go off route and decide I'll have to go through the garden of someone's property to get to a road (the A635). I then get back on route. I'm beginning to worry that with more rain my mobile might pack up and then I wouldn't have any means of navigating. Earlier in the day I was planning to try and get a paper OS Explorer map from Waterstones but I didn't get around to it and now I'm beginning to regret it.
