Cotswold Canals: from Frampton Mansell to Coates

This is the route that I took on Thursday August 20th 2020 when walking the Cotswold Canals from Frampton Mansell to Coates. It is 8.1K long.

	The Pearson's Guide says "The engraving 'WD 1784' on the arch of Whitehall Bridge refers to the mason William Dennis responsible for constructing this section of the canal". 	The TASC runs alongside Biccaridge Wood. Between here and the Daneway pub, there are about 8 locks. However, they are difficult to find and even more difficult to photograph! 	The Daneway pub has a tempting beer garden - I resist! Part of its car park has been built on the TASC. 	The Wysis Way has joined the TASC - it's a 55M path that joins the Offa's Dyke to the Thames Path. 	Here is the western portal of the Sapperton Tunnel. 	According to Wikipedia, the tunnel is 3817 yards long, and, when it opened in 1789, it was the longest in the UK but in 1811 that honour shifted to the Standedge Tunnel on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal which opened as 5456 yards long. 	As there's no towpath through the tunnel, I'm going to use paths/roads to get to the eastern portal. This photo shows the view looking back at the long climb up to the village of Sapperton. 	I reckon the TASC is below this point which is in a wood next to the road. According to the Pearson's Guide, the TASC "is up to 200 feet below the surface of the Cotswold landscape it burrows through".
