Calderdale Way: from Todmorden to Blackshaw Head

This is the route that I took on Thursday September 23rd 2021 when walking the Calderdale Way from Todmorden to Blackshaw Head. It is 12K long.

	It's Day 4 of walking the Calderdale Way. I start walking from Todmorden railway station. It's about a 10 minute walk to where I left the CDW at the Baked Artisan Bakery. From there the CDW goes along Rochdale Road. 	It then turns right into a side road that crosses the Rochdale Canal. 	The CDW is no longer on tarmac as it goes along this flat footpath. This is at 255m. 	At last a good view of the Unitarian Church. I struggled to get one yesterday: either I was too close and couldn't get it all in or there were trees in the way. 	After climbing up from Todmorden at 140m to this point which is at 302m, the route of the CDW now descends down this footpath to the houses. 	Just before the houses it turns right down this footpath. 	The CDW goes into some woods and uses this narrow footpath which has a deep drop on the left. 	The path of the CDW is still steeply descending - it is now at 235m. 	This is marked on the map as the River Calder! This is at 140m which is the same height as today's start in Tormorden. The next 0.4K of the CDW is along Burnley Road. So more tarmac! 	At this point, the CDW leaves Burnley Road and goes along Stoney Royd Lane. The CDW will climb to the top of the hill shown in the photo and it'll be steep as it's done in a short distance. I know because I looked depressingly at the contours on an OS map last night! 	The CDW is now at 184m. My map reading last night indicated to me that this is where the steep bit of the climb is. 	At this double bend, the CDW is at 210m. 	At this point, the CDW is at 255m. That's the worst bit over. It was a climb of 71m in 324m - that's 1 in 4.6. According to LDWA's elevation profile, this bit of the CDW gets to 340m and so there's another 85m to do but it's a lot gentler. The top is where the peak is in this photo. 	Now at 275m. Although the route from Todmorden has maoinly been northwards it nmow tuens eastwards. 	The CDW has reached its highest point today. It's now at 343m. This is the peak I mentioned for frame 370. 	As I can't find the route indicated by the GPX file which is a public right of way. I'm now using a path indicated on the OpenStreetMap map. The too meet up a short distance ahead. This bit away from the route avoids going through someone's property.
