Chesterfield Canal: from Kiveton to Shireoaks

This is the route that I took on Tuesday March 12th 2019 when walking the Chesterfield Canal from Kiveton to Shireoaks. It is 7.5K long.

And it's through these gates. The original line of the Canal was in a 2.633K tunnel (Norwood Tunnel) but it is planned to restore only a bit of the Tunnel - it's the bit from about here Eastwards

This signboard explains that stone from near here was taken by boat to West Stockwith, down the Humber, via the North Sea and up the Thames to rebuild the Houses of Parliament after a fire in 1834
