Chesterfield Canal: from Gringley Lock to West Stockwith

This is the route that I took on Wednesday March 27th 2019 when walking the Chesterfield Canal from Gringley Lock to West Stockwith. It is 9.7K long.

	Yesterday, I saw a "W&GN 1830" stone at the bridge next to Shaw Lock and wondered what the "W&GN" referred to - I only saw one reference to "W&GN" on the web and that was a photo at Gringley Top Lock in 1973. Even though I "did" this lock yesterday, I'm revisiting it today just to see whether yesterday I missed the bridge having a "W&GN" stone. There's not one on this side of the bridge ... 	The River Trent is running parallel to the road on the rightside of the road - so this is where the River Idle is about to join the Trent - the river was the predecessor to the Canal for shipping goods - the structure across the river shown on the left of the photo is ...
