Walking the Colne Valley Circular
During August 2021, I walked half of the Colne Valley Circular (CVC).
The CVC is about 21K.
I did the southern half of it.
The Walking Englishman's web page
says
"The Colne Valley Circular Walk is an interesting walk over permissive footpaths through Kirklees in Yorkshire. The walk begins and ends at Golcar and passes through Linthwaite, Slaithwaite and Marsden on the route. The path includes a waterside stroll along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, a stretch of upland walking across Slaithwaite Moor which provides excellent views of the Colne valley."
That web page provides both a GPX Route File and a Google Earth KML file.
The route of the CVC is shown in brown on the above map.

The underlying map is an OpenStreetMap map but I've used
www.rowmaps.com
to superimpose lines in red, magenta, green and blue that show public rights of way.
It uses data kindly provided by Kirklees Council.

you can get a GPX file from

I think it's more accurate than the one on
The Walking Englishman's web page.
Whilst I'm out walking, for navigation I used the OSMAnd app on my mobile phone.
It shows where I am on an OpenStreetMap map.
I've superimposed on the map the routes of public rights of way
using GPX files I've obtained from
www.rowmaps.com.
How to obtain and use those GPX files with OSMAnd is described on this web page.
I've also superimposed on the map the route of the CVC using the
LDWA's GPX file.
For backup, I'm also taking paper maps: OS Explorer 288 and OS Explorer OL21.
I'm stayed at a hotel in Huddersfield and using buses/trains to get to the start and return from the end of each day's walking.
On the 203 bus route the buses run up to 10 minutes earlier than their timetable which is very annoying.
I haven't found an app for my phone that provides real time bus information. However, this web page does. You need to type in the number of the bus route (e.g., 203) or a stop number (e.g., 45016741) or a postcode (e.g., HD1 6NW). A map appears and when you click on the bus stop you get a pop up to say when the next buses will arrive at that bus stop. It's great!
