Between July 28th and August 1st 2018 I walked the Huddersfield canals.
The Huddersfield Narrow Canal is about 20 miles long. I decided to take it easy, walking the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in 5 stages doing each stage on a separate day. Before going there, I decided to do it using the following 5 stages: Huddersfield to Slaithwaite, Slaithwaite to Marsden, Marsden to Diggle, Diggle to Mossley and Mossley to Ashton-under-Lyne. As the bit between Marsden to Diggle is through a 3.25 mile tunnel (without a towpath), I was planning to walk between Marsden and Diggle across the moor. That's about 5 miles. However, after some leg pains during Day 2, I decided to skip the plans to walk over the top. That gave me a day in hand. I spent the extra day walking the Huddersfield Broad Canal. This connects the Eastern side of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal to the Calder and Hebble Navigation. The Huddersfield Broad Canal is just 3.75 miles long.
Here are links to web pages that show in more detail what I did:

I stayed at the Huddersfield Central Lodge Hotel and enjoyed it there. I stayed in a Superior Double Room. The wifi was good. I accessed that wifi from both my mobile phone and from my laptop. On each device it required me to reclick the T&Cs about once a day.
There are a lot of good real ale pubs in Huddersfield. I would recommend the following:
Kings Head, Railway Station Grove, 2 Spring Grove Street Rat and Ratchet, 40 Chapel Hill Head of Steam, Railway Station The Vulcan, St Peters Street
