Because there are no buses on Christmas Day, I decided to walk for 30 minutes to the Black Horse in Dalton but annoyingly contrary to the information on the web they didn't sell real ale. The pub was heaving. I had Theakstons keg Mild. To get there I had to climb a hill called Kinver Bank that went straight up 50m. I passed three pubs on the way, two of which had real ale but I'd ignored these because they were gastropubs and they were too close to the hotel! In the end, on the way back I did have a half of the Rocking Rudolph Christmas Ale in the Rope Walk - it was good, and the pub was reasonably quiet. I should have gone there in the first place. Not the greatest of plans!!
