	... the canal to the left - that's the bit I've yet to do - is the Coventry Canal whereas the bit to the right - that's the bit I've just walked - is the Birmingham and Fazeley. What! So the Coventry is in two bits with the canal between Fazeley and Whittington not being part of the Coventry. This is mighty confusing! It's explained on a Wikipedia page which ... 	... says the Coventry Canal was completed in three stages. "The Coventry Canal company would build the route [from Coventry] to Fazeley. The Birmingham and Fazeley Canal [company] would build the next section, from Fazeley to Whittington Brook, ... and the Trent and Mersey Canal would complete the route by building southwards from Fradley Junction to meet up at Whittington Brook. ... The Coventry Canal [company] bought the section from Fradley to Whittington from the Trent and Mersey company, but the Birmingham and Fazeley [company] ... retained ownership of their section." The stone and plaque were provided by the Inland Waterways Association at the bicentenary of the joining of the two bits of canal. 	This is bridge 84. Note that this bridge is numbered. All the bridges between Whittington and Fradley Junction have numbers whereas those between Fazeley Junction and Whittington have names. This is because of the conventions of the two canal builders: the Trent and Mersey company use numbers whereas the Birmingham and Fazeley company use names. Bridge 84 is where today's walk leaves the Canal - it's about 0.5M North of Huddlesford.
