BCN: from Bradley to Deepfields Junction

This is the route that I took on Sunday July 14th 2019 when walking the BCN from Bradley to Deepfields Junction. It is 4.3K long.

When Brindley constructed the canal from Wolverhampton to Birmingham, he followed the contours and this resulted in a circuitous route from Deepfields Junction (DFJn) to Bloomfield Junction (BJn). Later Telford created a much shorter route between the two junctions - this involved constructing a 360 yards tunnel at Coseley. Brindley's circuitous route is called the Wednesbury Oak Loop - only the bit from Deepfields Junction to Bradley  survives. The difference between Brindley's and Telford's routes is clearly shown on the map on this web page at Wikipedia.

Here are some photos I took. If you want to see a photo in hi-res, click on it.

I walked the Wednesbury Oak Loop starting from Bradley (its end) and walking to Deepfields Junction.
The Pearson's Guide says that there are lock-gate workshops at Bradley. I guess they are in the Workshops shown in the photo. I think you might be to access the canal through here but today is Sunday and so they are not open.
