Between August 18th and 23rd 2018 I walked the Worcester and Birmingham Canal and the Droitwich Canals.
The Worcester and Birmingham Canal is 29 miles long. I decided to walk it in 5 stages doing each stage on a separate day. I also decided to walk it from Birmingham to Worcester. This was for two reasons: firstly, although I've been to Birmingham a few times, I don't think I've visited Worcester and so that treat will be there for the end of the trip. And the second reason is that it's downhill if you do it from Birmingham to Worcester!
There are two Droitwich Canals - there's the Droitwich Barge Canal which goes from the River Severn up to Droitwich and then there's the Droitwich Junction Canal that takes it from Droitwich up to Hanbury Wharf where it joins the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. The total length is about 7.5 miles. I again chose to go downhill, i.e., from Hanbury Wharf to the River Severn, as the bus timetables dictated this as the sensible direction to do it.
