"The Half Marathon gently descends the beautiful coastal path along the dramatic sea cliffs, with panoramic views down the coastline towards Scarborough, on reaching Petard point it is through Staintondale via open fields, woodland and the disused railway line until you reach Cloughton Wyke, then it is back to Ravenscar all the way on the coastal footpath via the picturesque roller coastal of Hayburn Wyke (that is a nice way of saying a killer of a down and uphill section that will make your legs and lungs burn). Then back to Ravenscar for those stunning sea cliff views (though you will still be sweating from the last bit and hoping for the sea wind not to blow)." "We also hold a 10K event along part of the route of the Half." "Both events are trail runs on a mixture of surfaces including, tarmac, cinder and grass/dirt." Here are the details about the event that was held in 2024: 'the races will start at Brunton Park behind the East Stand and will see runners turn right onto Warwick Road - within the first 3 miles you will go via the Citadel, through the Lanes, through the Cathedral grounds and then, past the front of  the Castle before heading into Bitts Park - after the Park you will go up Brampton Road, with the 10K taking a right into Rickerby Park and the Half will go to Crosby on Eden, Linstock, Rickerby and  Stoneyholme Golf Club before finishing at the stadium in front of the dugout - the first 3M of the two races are exactly the same - the roads were closed apart from the A689 which is footpath only and two way running - chip timing was used'. The 2025 event was full by about Oct 29th 2024. "The event uses a unique innovative concept: 11 Stages of running to be completed individually or as a pair. It's a superb scenic running journey around some of the best trails in Sheffield, linking up the great city's parkland and green spaces. The timed stages make up 20K of the 24.5K route. The unique format breaks the route down into bite-sized stages. Each stage has its own character. Each stage is raced, and competitors receive results for each stage as well as the combined overall result. Between stages competitors have the opportunity to relax a little, regroup with their team and friends and refocus before the next timed stage begins. Competitors are allowed to walk or jog in between timed stages. This creates a special and unique social vibe at the race. As well as plenty to discuss in the Beer tent post race! Participants are set off at regular intervals every few seconds, so there will always be someone to chase." "The creative concept means that a route such as this can be accessed and completed safely by runners of all abilities. Entry as Individuals or Pairs.
