Starting on the A68 opposite the Abbey, the route goes north along the A68, turns right up past Woodend and the back of Riverside, then east along the A698 towards Kelso. At around 4M, there is a small detour off the main road past Crailing church; the route then continues east along the A698 towards Kelso. At around 6M, the route turns right into Eckford then loops back towards the A698 to start the return journey. Runners will travel west along the A698 towards Bonjedward then south along the A68 towards Jedburgh, to finish on the grass by the river opposite Queen Mary's house." "The race takes you through the beautiful Derwent Walk Country Park - it's a fast, fun, and scenic race, with only a few mildly challenging inclines. It is a race suitable for all levels of runner. The course is creative with some interesting sweeping lines, and areas that loop back creating a fantastic social element. Thanks to the rangers all the paths are also well maintained so although it is a trail race the 'off road' sections of path are hard packed and easy to run on. Essentially its a great introduction to the world of trail running, away from the busy roads and amongst great scenery. And still fast enough to bag a PB." |

Underfoot conditions are quite variable and there's a bit of everything!
